There's not much to see in Phitsanulok, but sometimes it is necessary to travel through there on the way to Sukhothai or other places in the North. Phitsanulok forms a crossroads of sorts connecting the North with the Northeast and also to Bangkok and Central Thailand.
I'm not even sure why I bothered to spend the night here - I should have just continued on to Sukhothai. I will point out though, that when I visited Phitsanulok, I wasn't a veteran Thailand traveler, so I wasn't really sure what to do at night, and I think that if I went back, I would be able to find a good restaurant by the river... or something (anything).
The "London Hotel" sounded cosmopolitan enough that I felt that it deserved a chance. It was pretty basic, but the people were nice.
There was a few temples to visit, but the only scenic part of the city was near the river.
